State police at mile marker/exit 15.
CB (Citizen's Band) Radio was started in the 1940s. It wasn't very cost effective and didn't come into widespread use by ordinary citizens until the late 60s and early 70s. Many movies and TV shows in the 70s showed characters using CB radios which led to more and more people using CB radios. CB was the precursor to modern day internet chatroom, in that many people who were all using the same channel could talk to each other, make jokes and share information. The maximum distance you could reach with a CB was often determined by the size of your antenna and how powerful your transmitter was.
