Which Martin Scorsese film was based on the life of boxer Jake LaMotta?
Jake LaMotta, nicknamed "The Raging Bull", was professional boxer and former World Middleweight Champion. He won more than 80 fights, but was best known for his matches against Sugar Ray Robinson. His 1970 autobiography was adapted into the 1980 film Raging Bull, which starred Robert De Niro as LaMotta and was directed by Martin Scorsese. The film won two Academy Awards, including Best Actor for Robert De Niro, and the resulting popularity renewed the public’s interest in the former champion. Raging Bull is considered Scorsese's magnum opus and one of the greatest films ever made.
